Chris Cecil-Wright started his eponymous boutique superyacht brokerage two years ago this month and has had a busy, enlightening and successful first two years in business. Chris commented; “Having been in the industry for over twenty years, I thought I knew all aspects of the business, but I have learnt so much since starting on my own and have enjoyed so many new aspects that have come with establishing Cecil Wright & Partners.
As the market in general sees a return to confidence and at the very highest level, UHNW individuals are, more than ever, investing in luxury at the top end.”
In the last two years, Chris has used his motto of “fewer clients, serviced better” as his focus in everything that he and the team does. Their commitment to developing the best relationships has also remained at the very heart of the business. His ongoing passion for, and commitment to Feadship has also held firm over the last two years with this relationship stronger than ever.
Since launching the original office in Monaco, Chris opened his second office in St James, London, last year, designed by Andrew Winch. He has also expanded his team considerably. Starting with just a PA, Chris then employed Henry Smith as junior sales broker, Eugenia Fomicheva and Claire Van Der Vorm as charter brokers and Sarah Fraser as a specialist in sailing yachts for both sales and charter. He then added Liz Cox as Operations Director, before finally completing the team with the appointment of Alastair Shove six months ago on the sales side.
In the past year, Chris has had a noteworthy large sale (ISSANA, a 55m Feadship) and has secured three Central Agencies for sale, including the 73m SIREN. Most significantly Chris has sold and been appointed Project Manager for a new build 65m yacht at Feadship which continues to establish him as the authority on Feadships.
Alastair Shove has also just announced the signing as CA for the sale of an “as new” Sanlorenzo SL118.
The charter market has grown over the last two years with many repeat clients using Cecil Wright & Partners to manage their charters around the world throughout the year. This client base is particularly important as charter clients often become hooked on the undoubted allure of owning a superyacht.
Cecil Wright participated very successfully in MYS in 2013 and 2014 and at the LYJACS in 2015. He has also approached his marketing in a different way – creating a quarterly newspaper rather than a glossy brochure and adopting a less-is-more approach to all aspects of the sales and marketing mix.
